In 2020, as the pandemic brought global tourism to a standstill, Skål International Izmir was named runner-up in the Skål International Club of the Year competition, contested by 19 clubs from 7 continents and 103 countries.

The Story of an Honorable Year
Every year, Skål International names a "Club of the Year" from among its clubs worldwide, honoring the most active and impactful community shaping the tourism industry. In 2020, Skål International Izmir became the first club from Turkey to reach the final of this prestigious competition since 1999.
The result was decided through a two-stage evaluation: a 40% weighted vote from the Board of Directors and a 60% weighted vote cast electronically by roughly 15,000 Skål members from over 100 countries worldwide. Announced during Skål International's first-ever virtual Annual General Assembly, the results placed Skål International Goa (India) first, Skål International Izmir second, and Skål International Perth (Australia) third.
This achievement followed closely on the heels of our club's Artemis Awareness Honorary Award, received a year earlier for our contributions to Izmir's tourism, giving Skål International Izmir two major international recognitions in quick succession.
Built on the principle of "doing business among friendship," this award was, for our club, a worldwide confirmation of years of effort and dedication to Izmir's tourism.
