Skål International Izmir President Aydın Tokbaş stated that the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday accelerated reservations. He said that occupancy rates in summer destinations reached the 80-90 percent band and that some facilities will operate at full capacity.
Tokbaş emphasized that Çeşme-Alaçatı maintains its position as a locomotive destination, but regions such as Seferihisar, Urla, and Foça have become alternatives.
He explained that economic conditions have changed the tourist profile and that domestic tourists are turning to more economical accommodation options.
As the most critical problem, he said "profit is melting while revenue is rising because we cannot reflect cost increases in prices." He stated that high inflation and personnel expenses are squeezing the sector.
He said that competition in the domestic market has increased due to visa facilities in the Greek Islands.
